Hold onto your sun hats because Port Douglas Carnivale is back for 2025 and is turning up the tropical heat! Following a huge celebration last year for its 30th birthday, this year is set to be even bigger with the addition of not one but TWO huge new attractions.
With festival weekend locked in for May 23 - 25, excitement is building not only for the attractions we know and love (did someone say Street Parade?) but also for the newcomers that are set to shake things up. So, what’s new in 2025? Let’s take a look:
You’ve heard of Savannah in the Round, the annual multi-day camping and music festival held in Mareeba, and now it’s time to welcome its cool, tropical cousin Savannah Sounds. The newest addition to the Carnivale line-up will see a massive three-day music spectacular take over the coastal town, setting up shop in the world’s best stage at the stunning Rex Smeal Park.
The party will kick off on the Friday night following the annual Street Parade with Saturday night showcasing a major headline act (more details to be released soon). Party-goers can then recoup and recover with a more relaxed, low key vibe to see out the festivities.
Having had the Far North moving and grooving for the past five years, there’s no doubt that the Savannah Sounds team know how to throw a party.
Ever wondered what happens when Tokyo's nightlife lands in Port Douglas? Well, you’re about to find out as the Maho Magic Bar prepares to hit Dixie Park. This isn't your average magic show; it's an immersive experience that'll have you questioning reality. With master illusionists performing up-close tricks, this part show, part cocktail bar will leave you both baffled and amazed. Sessions run throughout the festival, so there's no excuse to miss this magical mashup.
Evenings are reserved for the adults but the little ones won’t miss out with family-friendly shows taking place on the weekends.
The magic begins May 14 and runs through until June 8th so you’ve got plenty of time to make your way towards the neon lights.
It wouldn’t be Carnivale without all our favourite activities. The opening night Macrossan Street Parade will of course be kicking it all off with The Longest Lunch, Douglas Dash and Tin Shed’s Beach Day all returning once again.
There’s a reason Port Douglas Carnivale is the biggest event of our calendar year and we can’t wait to kick off another wonderful season in paradise with you.
