Message from Executive Officer
We're excited to unveil our refreshed website and new brand assets! This update is complemented by fresh content and imagery, which will be continuously added to the website and social channels and featured throughout our digital campaign activity. Our campaign focus remains 'Summer in the Tropics,' with storytelling centred around the vibrant summer season.
Several significant developments are shaping our tourism landscape as we move into another month of activity in our destination.
We farewell Patricia O'Callaghan as Tourism and Events Queensland CEO as she takes up her new role as Acting Director General of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation. We thank Patricia for her leadership as TEQ begins their search for a new CEO.
We also welcome Natassia Wheeler as the incoming CEO of Queensland Tourism Industry Council, effective December 16. Natassia brings extensive tourism and events experience to the role, most recently as CEO of Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism, and we look forward to working with her to advance Queensland's tourism industry.
Following the state election results, I've had a productive initial discussion with David Kempton, our new State Member for Cook, and look forward to further meetings to discuss our region's pressing tourism needs and opportunities.
Over the past few weeks, our advocacy efforts culminated in a deputation to Douglas Shire Council at the October Ordinary Council Meeting, where we presented the value of tourism, key tourism priorities for our region and the importance of ongoing and sustained partnership support.
We were also pleased to host an industry briefing on progress, works plans and contingency plans for our roads and water security as we head into the summer season. The presentations delivered from Douglas Shire Council are available on the respective links above. To stay connected to latest updates on the Captain Cook Hwy subscribe to the TMR's Captain Hook Hwy updates here. We will continue to monitor the progress and works plans and continue to work with TMR and DSC to minimise disruptions to industry as necessary repair works continue and as we enter the wetter months.
We're excited to host the upcoming TEQ and ATDW workshop on December 2nd in Port Douglas. This will be an important opportunity for tourism operators to discover more about the ATDW and Best of Queensland platforms and their value in driving visibility and enhancing tourism offerings. Definitely one not to miss! Details
The recent opening of Hartley's new Croc Centre brings an exciting new attraction to our region. The evening showcased innovative storytelling and wildlife education through collaboration between Traditional Owners, creative contributors, and industry partners.
We're delighted to share that preparations are well underway for the UK Europe Marketplace and TTNQ road show, where we have secured 170 appointments with key international distributors and sellers, representing significant opportunities to strengthen our presence in these vital markets.
Wishing you a successful week ahead,
Emma
