EO Update

Message from Executive Officer

Several significant developments are shaping our tourism landscape as we move into another month of activity in our destination.

We farewell Patricia O'Callaghan as Tourism and Events Queensland CEO as she takes up her new role as Acting Director General of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation. We thank Patricia for her leadership as TEQ begins their search for a new CEO.

We also welcome Natassia Wheeler as the incoming CEO of Queensland Tourism Industry Council, effective December 16. Natassia brings extensive tourism and events experience to the role, most recently as CEO of Moreton Bay Region Industry & Tourism, and we look forward to working with her to advance Queensland's tourism industry.

Following the state election results, I've had a productive initial discussion with David Kempton, our new State Member for Cook, and look forward to further meetings to discuss our region's pressing tourism needs and opportunities.

Over the past few weeks, our advocacy efforts culminated in a deputation to Douglas Shire Council at the October Ordinary Council Meeting, where we presented key tourism priorities for our region. We were also pleased to host an industry briefing, providing valuable insights into our sector's landscape. The presentations delivered, including updates from Transport and Main Roads, are now available for review [presentations attached].

We're excited to announce the upcoming TNQ - Port Douglas and Cassowary Coast TEQ/ATDW Workshop on December 2nd. More details will follow soon.

The recent opening of Hartley's new Croc Centre brings an exciting new attraction to our region. The evening showcased innovative storytelling and wildlife education through collaboration between Traditional Owners, creative contributors, and industry partners.

We're delighted to share that preparations are well underway for the UK Europe Marketplace and TTNQ road show, where we have secured 170 appointments with key international distributors and sellers, representing significant opportunities to strengthen our presence in these vital markets.

Our brand refresh continues to progress, with exciting developments in our visual identity that better reflects our destination's unique character [brand teaser attached].

Our Summer in the Tropics campaign continues to gain momentum, with recent filming completed for an upcoming feature on Roads Less Travelled, further showcasing our destination to key markets.

Wishing you a successful week ahead,

Emma
