Built in 1878, the Central Hotel is the oldest pub in Port Douglas. Originally named the North Australian Hotel, it was damaged in the 1911 cyclone and was rebuilt as the Central Hotel. A grand, old and much-loved Queenslander, with renovations adding open timber decks, giant sail structures and lush tropical landscaping alongside the 'old' pub.
The Central has three bars. The old pub's famous Public Bar is home to Keno and an air-conditioned pokie room where you could get lucky on Jackpot Carnivale. The Verandah Bar oozes comfort and relaxation. Sink into our comfy lounges after a day on the reef and enjoy a cocktail or two. Tropical palms and lush foliage await you in the Garden Bar. A calm and cool oasis in the heart of busy Macrossan Street great for a bite to eat with the family. Our kid-friendly grassed play area awaits your family.
The timber decks along Macrossan Street are home to the Central's giant screen, the largest outdoor screen in Tropical North Queensland. Sit back, relax and watch some of the greatest Australian sporting moments or simply soak up the activity of Port Douglas' famous Macrossan Street.
